romania: renault recalls 13,300 vehicles to replace air bags
French carmaker Renault said on Tuesday that it was recalling about 13,300 Dassia cars in Romania due to safety concerns with the driver\'s airbag inflator.
The company says it is recalling all Dacia Logan, Lodgy and Dokker manufactured in Romania on the grounds that there may be defects in the event of a collision.
The company said the driver could replace the inflator free of charge at the dasia dealer.
The state consumer protection agency issued the statement Tuesday.
A company spokesman told The Associated Press that the problem stems from the airbag supplier and there is no risk of inflation when driving under normal circumstances.
He said that it is possible to expand at temperatures above 60 degrees Celsius (140 Fahrenheit).
According to company policy, the person is only required to be anonymous.
Renault sold about 655,000 Dancia cars in 2017, most of them outside Romania.
